Abstract
The study mentioned is the English translation of the Czech research project PRVOUK PO 1. It contains 8 chapters examine Bonhoeffer's life, his understanding of the Church as contained in his major theological works, which in the Church's understanding focus on the authority of Holy Scripture and theology of Martin Luther's Reformation.
This theological orientation has enabled him to overcome the liberal ecclesiology, critically draw attention to certain problems of the newly forming dialectical theology and also publicly protest against religious, ethnic, anti-Semitic, racist explaining the essence of the Christian Church, as it presented the German Christians in 1933-1945 in Germany. The Church's reality is as God's revelation in Christ and it transcends all of the above mentioned differences (Gal 3:28).
