Abstract
Carbon monoxide poisoning (CMP) is most often poisoning in Europe and USA. It has a variety of symptoms which causes failure of diagnosis.
Even in the case of early detection is the therapeutic use of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) globally rather exceptional. The treatment CMP by HBO is supported by pathophysiology of poisoning and data from the experiments.
Unfortunately, clinical trials have uncertain results, some of them even reports worsening of CMP by HBO. Most of them are not biased in favor of HBO, comparing to normobaric oxygen therapy.
It can be caused by different study protocols, different time interval from exposition to treatment. It is possible that HBO is even toxic in certain CMP phase, thus proper interval and proper oxygen dosage has to be founded.
