Position of diuretics in the arterial hypertension treatment

Abstract

Diuetics for arterial hypertension therapy can be divided in: thiazide-type (hyrochlorothiazide)and thiazide-like diuretics(chlothalidone, indapamide). The both groups differ from each other in chemical structure and pharmacological effects.

Different effects lead to the different reduction of cardiovascular mortality. The higher cardioprotective effect have thiazide-like diuretics (indapamide and chlortalidone)in comparison to the thiazide-type diuretics.
