Influence of rolling conditions on deformation behaviour of AZ31 Magnesium alloy

Abstract

Rolled sheets of the Mg-based alloys exhibit a specific basal texture, where the orientation of basal planes is almost parallel to the sheet plane. Such a texture favors deformation twinning if compressive tress is applied along the rolling direction (RD).

Mechanical properties of wrought Mg alloys are usually significantly influenced by the initial texture.
