Abstract
The following text is dealing with the reconciliation of work and family life in the European countries using the social policy instruments. The text is dealing with three groups of these instruments and it is lookig for the barriers of better compatibility between work and family.
The text is also dealing with the impact of these processes on gender equality in the European countries. The main instruments whitch are subject od the interest are parental leave, institutions of pre-school education and the conditions of employment (labour law)
