Abstract
Authors of the contribution brings holistic view on an issue of Europien union demands on nurse education, professional qualification recognition and from above mentioned followed competences of paramedical professions within boundaries of its legislation. Contribution presents general demarcation of term competence and its Czech Republic foundation.
Main part is dedicated to a historical review of foundation of European University system and its resulting demands on nurse education and determination of nurse competences including pre-gradual and post-gradual education fulfillment. There is a description of legislative in the Czech Republic including upcoming amendment of law no.: 96/2004 in the end.
