Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (formerly called as Churg - Strauss syndrome) is systemic vasculitis affecting predominantly small vessels. The vasculitis is accompanied by peripheral blood eosinophilia, eosinophilic tissue infiltration and granulomas.
It is relatively rare disease, which incidence is significantly increasing among asthmatic patients. The typical manifestation of the disease is pulmonary, cardiac, renal or neurologic affliction.
The therapy is based on early immunosupression and multidisciplinary approach, both are crucial for patient prognosis. Due to important progress in diagnosis and treatment we, therefore, remind this issue in the light of new knowledge.
