Abstract

Spasticity is one of the most common symptoms in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). On one hand, mild spasticity can be desirable symptom, whereas on the other hand high spasticity interferes with voluntary movements of the patient.

In therapy we prescribe oral muscle relaxants, but rehabilitation also includes: modulators of endocannabinoid system, local application of botulinum toxin, or implantation of baclofen pump. In this article the author describes the experience of treatment and rehabilitation in MS patients in the Spasticity Center of Motol Hospital.
