Tracheoesophageal fistula

Abstract

Presented are two cases of patients with iatrogenic (postintubation) tracheoesophageal fistulae. The theoretical part is an overview of the types of fistulae, their possible etiology, clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment options.

The second part includes case reports of two patients with tracheoesophageal fistulae. For the first time in the Czech Republic, these cases were managed using endoscopic suturing via the esophageal approach with the Apollo system performed at a gastroenterology section of the Department of Internal Medicine, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University Prague and University Hospital Motol.
