Systemic Geostrategic Analysis of International Relations in the Arctic Transborder Region

Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |
2011

Abstract

We offer a two-stage systemic, dynamic, and interdisciplinary analysis of the developments in the Arctic region. First, we present the essential elements of five geostrategic action spaces.

Second, we illustrate ten possible channels of inter-space affection. Next, we identify the forces strengthening and weakening the system's stability and adjust the four ""Scenarios for 2040"" by Lawson W.

Brigham to an interplay of these forces. Finally, we offer a 'hybrid' scenario as the most probable outcome of the future development in the northernmost region.
