Thirty patients with documented ischaemic stroke on aspirin medication 100 mg daily were checked by light transmission aggregometry with 5 different agonists. The average aggregability in LTA was significantly reduced when initiated by collagen, epinephrine and arachidonic acid, while only partly reduced by ristocetin and ADP.
In addition aspirin effectivity was also measured by VerifyNow. Conclusions: For testing aspirin effects on platelets three inducers act in good mutual correlation: AA, collagen and epinephrine.
The combination of methods and agonists achieves higher reliability.
