Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disease characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness. Exercise tolerance is the strongest prognostic marker of all-cause mortality in the general population.

Patients with narcolepsy have lower cardiopulmonary fitness compared to the general population and it is inversely related to sleepiness. The aim of the present study was to test the hypothesis that a three months exercise programme will increase cardiopulmonary fitness in patients with narcolepsy.

An axercise intervention program improves cardiopulmonary fitness in patients with narcoloepsy. Adherence rate is low in these patients' group.

The programme led to a non-significant decrease in weight and BMI but more importantly to a decrease in waist circumference.
