Abstract

In the opening chapters the authors deal with the physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms of breathlessness, its causes and evaluation including medical history analysis and differential diagnostic algorithms. Shortness of breath in children and has a number of distinct features in common with dyspnea adults and collectively is treated in a separate chapter.

Special chapters concern the problems of acute breathlessness, wheezing in diseases of the circulatory system and for respiratory diseases, while obesity and metabolic unit in endocrine diseases and wheezing from the perspective of the hematology consultant of. The perception of breathlessness and its serious impact on the psyche of the patients aptly documented by a psychiatrist.

The last part of the book addresses the general influence of physiotherapy to dyspnea and its specific effect in individual groups of diseases.
