Abstract

Whiplash associated disorders may present with diverse symptoms secondary to cervical spine injuries and adjacent soft tissues damage. This paper elaborates on etiopathogenesis, symptomatology and management of whiplash injuries where no major structural changes have taken place.

The essential practical recommendation is the elimination of cervical collar application, physiotherapy focused on functional alterations and patient education to maintain an active lifestyle including reduction of fear associated with physical activity.
