Abstract

Monograph eHealth and Telemedicine serves as a textbook for students of medicine and biomedicine, and for interested physicians. The term eHealth means healthcare practice supported by electronic processes and communication.

It includes elements of medical informatics, health care organizations, as well as commercial strategies focused on health, health services and information sharing. Healthcare electronization results from the rapid development of information and communication technologies that govern us today, yet the field of eHealth is accepted in the medical world only slowly.

More widespread is the use of telemedicine, which is the most distinct part of eHealth. Telemedicine blends various medical and health specializations and extends also to social welfare and special education.

It deals mainly with possibilities of the remote access in the therapy, e-learning and storing patient data, with organization of remote medical consultation, and with the monitoring of patients, disabled persons or the elderly from the distance.
