Abstract

The paper describes the conduct of the pupils of general schools in the school district of Karlín in 1850-1927, as analysed from reprimands issued by teachers in the class records. The sample of schools analysed includes general schools in Brandýs nad Labem, Stará Boleslav, Odolena Voda, Klecany, Veliká Ves and Panenské Břežany, which were part of the Karlín school district at least for part of the period mentioned.

The paper constist of two larger sections, the first of which describes the behaviour of pupils in the monitored period, based on the mentioned sources - the class records. This section is divided into several subsections, each focusing on specific offences - bad conduct at school, bad conduct outside of school, thefts, mistreatment of animals and damage to the environment.

The second section describes how pupils were punished for bad behaviour, in particular based on the available literature and printed sources.
