An extensive study shows the site of Roman Jakobson in Czech culture and science in the background of his book "Wisdom of the Old Czechs", which was published in American exile in 1943. Interpretation presents multiple perspectives, which can be seen Jakobson's scientific and public action.
Generally, however, concerns the very important topic of the intellectual history of the 20th century - the role of science where the thinker takes a position on political and ideological issues and their knowledge wants to participate actively in their solution.
