Granulomatous hepatitis as a rare therapeutic complication

Abstract

Intravesical BCG application is an established and relatively simple treatment for superficial carcinomas of the urinary bladder. It is usually well tolerated and has only mild side effects.

We report a case of a 76-year-old immunocompetent man in whom this treatment led to a rare complication characterized by granulomatous hepatitis and pneumonitis. Elastography of the liver was used during diagnosis.
