Possibilities of ischaemic heart disease prevention in postmenopausal females

Abstract

Ischaemic heart disease (IHD) belongs to the most common cause of death in females in all developed countries. In the past 25 years has significantly decreased the mortality from IHD about 65 % in the Czech females (age 25 - 75 years).

The early assessment of global cardiovascular risk is one of the most important approach in the IHD prevention and a clu for the introduction of pharmacological treatment of the cardiovascular risk factors. Basic principles of IHD prevention in postmenopausal females are decribed.
