We propose to go beyond traditional areas (such as algorithms, programming, information representation) when defining the curricula for elementary and grammar school computer science. We could miss a topic, with which everyone should be familiar, even though it does not belong into an introductory computer science course.
One such topic is artificial intelligence. Universities approach it mostly from the technical point of view, students learn to solve problems using contemporary techniques.
That is not very interesting from individuals outside the field. However it seems beneficial to get the chance at school to contemplate the possibilities of future developments of artificial intelligence and its consequences, and to do it based on facts instead of sci-fi production.
In this paper we propose the educational goals for artificial intelligence in general secondary education. We show the connections with the more traditional computer science content and other educational areas.
Finally we describe a few particular educational activities to show the feasibility of artificial intelligence in general education.
