Abstract

Chemistry teaching at medical schools is similar to chemistry teaching at other non-medical secondary schools in many ways. Based on inter-subject relations emerging from school education programmes it is an area, where the chemistry knowledge is necessary and therefore it is very important to support and develop this interconnection.

In order to understand the students' opinion on the chemistry teaching, a questionnaire has been made based on the pilot questionnaire survey. It has been the distributed to the chosen medical schools in the Czech Republic and is focusing on the chemistry teaching on those schools.

The questionnaire is composed of 12 polytomical items and 1 open item. The questionnaire has been answered by 225 students of several medical schools.

Their answers helped to ascertain their feelings toward chemistry teaching and their opinions on the teaching course. As it can be seen from the outcome of the questionnaire, students do not have negative attitude to chemistry, but they would like to have more materials showing connection between theory and practice.

This questionnaire has formed the basis and stepping stone for the preparation of the materials for the doctoral thesis and the working sheets focusing on chemistry in the medical practice.
