Abstract

Immunoglobulin supplementation therapy represents a corner stone in the treatment of patients with impaired of specific antibody production, who are prone to infectious diseases, predominnantly of bacterial origin. Specific treatment, way of administration, dosage and substitution interval are highly individual.

Nowadays the subcutaneous route of administration is often preferred to the intravenous route. Either pumps or direct rapid push method are used for immunoglobulin administration.

Hyaluronidase facilitated subcutaneous treatment is newly available also in the Czech Republic. All methods of administration are comparable regarding the efficacy.

Better comfort for patients is achieved with subcutaneous supplementation in their homes with low frequency of side effects in addition. The adverse events are local and mild only.
