Abstract

The German Gymnastic Association (Deutscher Turnerverband), which existed in the Czechoslovak Republic between 1919 and 1938, and the Working Community of Sudeten German Gymnasts in the Sudetend German Compatriot Association (Arbeitsgemeinschaft sudetendeutscher Turner und Turnerinnen in der Sudetendeutschen Landsmannschaft), where after the World War II the displaced gymnasts were organised, had a very specific idea of the form and mission of art. This study attempts to enlighten this idea using the example of the amateur writer Ludwig Protz (1895-1927), who in der German Gymnastic Association held a position of the so-called district "dietwart".

The object of the text is to provide impulses for the current debate about the possibilities of recollection of Ludwig Protz, who is still present in der Czech countryside in numerous material monuments.
