Abstract

There is an increasingly stronger need to share information in today's world of rapidly growing amount of information. As an ideal tool for this we can use social networks that allow us to quickly share various types of information regardless of time and place.

Due to its growing popularity today's social networking are used also in science and research. From the available networks, researchers use mostly Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn, as well as scientific social network Academia.edu, ResearchGate and Mendeley.

These networks allow scientists to link with colleagues from all of the world, monitor actual results of their research and share their own knowledge.
