The article presents an overview of difficulties Czech students of the Latvian language might be dealing with. After a short introduction of the Latvian language lecturing in the Czech Republic attention is focused on phonetic, orthographic and grammatical differences between the two languages, considering that these phenomenons might cause some difficulties.
The grammatical verb system appears to by the most problematic, but both languages show similar structure, which makes Latvian not so difficult for a Czech speaker to learn.
