Abstrakt
The paper provides an in-depth analysis of the reception of Sándor Márai's artistic output from the perspective of Central Europe, ie. the presence of his works in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The last twenty years have brought a remarkable popularity of Márai's oeuvre outside Hungary.
That is why nowadays he is perceived in the dimension of the canon of European literature. The question - why exactly Polish reception is so very unusual, leads us to comparing it with other languages and countries.
Central European perspective will provide more comprehensive answer to this question.
