Abstract
This contribution traces the inuence of folklore and vernacular architecture on the architecture of the Czech Lands in late 19th and early 20th century. It describes the situation in Czech architecture at the end of the 19th century, when a folkloric movement appeared as part of the process of national renewal in the Czech Lands.
The paper describes the varying attitudes of Czech architects to this phenomenon and the way in which folklorism inuenced new buildings erected in rural areas.
