Abstrakt
The paper deals with the historical development, actual situation and future challenges of environmental law in the territory of the Czech Republic from three poins of view - legal regulation, legal science and university teaching. It starts in the period of Austro-Hungarian Empire, continues through the first Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938) and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (1948-1989) and concentrates on the independent and democratic Czech Republic after 1992.
