Abstract
The text is dealing with a genre of biography as a specific mode of organization of commemoration on example of biographies of Václav Havel. The primary perspective of the text is a "culture of commemoration" like a proces of giving a meaning to a past.
This proces is realized both on a level of discourse and on a level of everyday praxis. An author analyses four biographies of Václav Havel, from perspective of construction of their plot.
The most imporatant theoretical aproach is thinking of Paul Ricoeur, complemented by typology of plots by Northrop Frye. The author classifies biogrfaphies from perspective of construction of plot and investigates a relationship between time of biography and time of history in context of culture of commemoration.
