The main issue of existentialism is the human freedom and hence a matter of free will and free choice. The human is an individual, who is free, but at the same time he is responsible for his own freedom.
Because of this radical freedom a profound conflict occurs, which affects every aspect of human existence. In my presentation I would like to put Márai's novels and its characters in the context of so-called non-philosophical or literary existentialism.
I will try to find an answers for the question: is Giacomo Casanova (the main character of the novel Casanova in Bolzano) capable to be honest and faithful to himself and stay authentic in his existence, as well as can he make a decision, which will stay in harmony with his identity.
