Abstract

Interaction communication within cities is an vital element of urban life. In this talk, we focus on traits we notice in a city, as the visual qualities or affordances, and bring the urban development into context with information and interaction design for modern users/inhabitants.

We put the technological layer within urban environments into the center of our interest and ponder on vital, effective interaction and wayfinding of everyday users of built environment. Transformations and appropriations are inevitable parts of city life; we will look at how philosophers and urban architects perceive the term of "vitalism" and how vitalistic approaches and patterns can enrich the urban systems.
