Publication |
2016

Abstract

The Old Testament texts were fixed in different versions written at a different time and place. These texts existed parallel to each other for some time and they fixed different variants of the Decalogue with some minor or major modifications.

The Decalogue is preserved in the Masoretic text, in the Samaritan Pentateuch, in the Septuagint and also in the Dead Sea Scrolls fragments. Particular group of these texts belongs to the group known as the proto-Samaritan texts due to some common features with the Samaritan Pentateuch.

This short study focuses on mutual comparison of these textual variants of the Decalogue.
