Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

The conference presentation was dealing with Chushingura sokuseki ryori, a Santo Kyoden's parody of Kanadehon Chushingura. The focus was primarily laid on Kyoden's techniques with parody using food.

The aim was to show, that food was a popular topic in the Edo period and that the contrast of such a mundane subject with a revered story of loyalty could be used to create humor.
