Criginger's maps of Bohemia in the Map Collection of the Faculty of Science of Charles University

Abstract

The presentation will introduce the life and work of Johann C. Criginger (1521-1872), Lutheran pastor, native of Jáchymov and the author of an important map of the Bohemian Kingdom (1568).

There will be introduces the copies of his adapted maps from the Ortelius' atlas Theatrum Orbis terrarium. Many other copies were created according to the original of Criginger's maps.

It was evidenced by Salzburg map found by Prof. K.Kuchař in the 30s of the 20th century.

He also created a register of Salzburg and Strahov copy.
