The contribution deals with the first research of the state of digitisation and of making the special collections available. Primarily it describes the largest files from the Central Archive of Surveying and Cadastre, Fund of Geographical Products of Geographical Service of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, Digital Map Collection of the Faculty of Science of Charles University and Map archive of the Czech Geological Service.
Many cartographic works were digitised within the projects of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Moll's map collection of the Moravian Library predominates by its processing.
Less extensive collections are then monitored. The aggregation of the digital collections into the higher units such as Registry of Digitization, Staremapy.cz portal or OlmapsOnline.org is pointed out.
The research also included the options of search the cartographic materials in the portals Manuscriptorium, Europeana and eCollections. Out of more than 1 million cartographic documents 375,303 units were digitized and 273,923 digital documents were made available to the 30th of August 2008.
The statistics are, however, out of many reasons complicated.
