In Central Europe, the Late Stone Age is represented by the Corded Ware Culture (2800--2500 BC). This culture, characteristic for the absence of settlement evidence, is mainly known from its burial rites and specific grave goods.

From use-wear analysis of the chipped stone industry in three large burial grounds, this pilot project attempts to find an answer to the question of who these people were (e.g. hunter gatherers, nomads without stable settlements or farmers); and to define more precisely the economic activities during the Late Stone Age in Central Europe.
