Abstract

One of the most interesting phenomena of the Late Medieval Tamilnadu is the emergence of a wide range of genres in which for the first time appeared new types of literary characters from lower castes and minorities. One of these genres is kuravanji whose protagonists are the members of the Kurava tribe. In my contribution I will examine what kind of ethnographic information can be found in kuravanji and whether it could be used to determine the source of the inspiration for the divine Kurava tribe.
