Phonetics and Phonology of the Czech language

Abstract

The chapter describes the state of teaching phonetics and phonology of Czech language at faculties training teachers. The current state of teaching, which was researched by excerptions of teaching plans, is compared with phonetics topics in the Framework Education Programme.

It also analyses the diversity of research in phonetics and its potential projection into teacher training programmes. The chapter also contains a summary of literature recommended for studying Czech language phonetics.

Special attention is paid to current aims and the content of teaching phonetics and phonology at the Faculty of Education of Charles University.
