Contexts of Education in the Postmodern Situation

Abstract

The study focuses on selected aspects of the postmodern situation in education, including its social as well as scientific paradigms. The influence of postmodernism on the fields of philosophy and ethics, which played a central role in the formation of new radically democratic perspectives on education, is analyzed at length.

This continues with insights into the transformations of the scientific paradigm in the post-Kuhn era, characterized by the conditions of epistemic relativism, cultural diversity, and the growing pluralism of thought in the field of pedagogy. Finally, the study explores the consequences of neoliberal doctrine and its overlap with education, against the backdrop of the pressures faced by universities and by the teaching profession in the context of economic and technological globalization.
