Possible responses to mass influx of people into the European Union

Publication at Faculty of Law |
2016

Abstract

The author analyses legal questions related to the migration crises of 2015-2016 when the number of people from third countries coming to the European Union increased significantly. The response of states of the EU was inadequte, although the legal framework is - in theory - sufficient.

The author analyses the unclear discourse of migration crisis and shows the unclearness of which stakeholder should answer to the crisis - the states, or the EU, or both. She also discusses the limits of the current approach, the perspectives of the future developments and the issue of temporary protection which she considers the solution.
