About the phenomenon of love and belonging to parents and their children with mental disabilities in everyday totalitarianism: The book presents the problems of people with mental disabilities and their families in the historical-social context of totalitarian Czechoslovakia from 1948-1989. On the basis of narrative interviews the author examines the basic human characteristics which were manifested in interpersonal relationships within families and their close social groups.
She deals with the phenomenon of solidarity and demonstrates solidarity in the time of totalitarianism and what becomes in the democratic society after year of 1989. On the base of the authentic testimonies of parents, the author reveals the places and situations where families had and still have understanding, help, and support.
