P64 Mechanisms regulating apoptosis of pancreatic beta cells fatty acids - proteomic approach

Publication

Abstract

The aim of this study is the discovery of molecules involved in the regulation of induction of apoptosis of pancreatic beta cells saturated and unsaturated fatty acids using two-dimensional electrophoresis. We identified prohibitin and glutamate dehydrogenase as molecules potentially involved in regulating apoptosis of pancreatic beta cells by fatty acids.

We believe that the proteomic approach will lead to the discovery of such molecules, which have not been the phenomenon lipotoxicity in pancreatic beta-cells at all associated, which can contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms of pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes.
