Abstract

Chapter covers the basic determinants of health, provides an overview of the tools used to study the effects on health, including long-term monitoring of population exposure to substances contaminating the environment. It provides an overview of epidemiological methods used for studying of the relationship between environmental factors and health and mentions health risk assessment approach.

It summarizes the environmental factors, current situation and problems to solve. It describes the impact of work and working environment on human health and health care workers.

It emphasizes risk factors of lifestyle - risks associated with smoking, alcohol and drugs, especially among adolescents and prevention.
