Methodology for the identification of localities of residential segregation

Publication

Abstract

The methodology identifies the localities of residential segregation of social groups in a socially unequal position. The methodology first defines social groups in an unequal position.

In its second step, it identifies the sites of concentration of social groups in an unequal position, using a combination of statistical data and information on the perception and representation of localities of concentration. The third step is the evaluation of these localities of concentration in terms of segregation.

The methodology uses a combination of a wide range of data and information sources and methodologies. It puts emphasis on field work and expert assessment and evaluation of the situation with regard to specific local conditions.
