Abstract
The topic of the study is the draft of a fleect act written by admiral Montecuccoli in 1911. Discussed are especially the advantages and disadvantages of such an act, which should have secured automatic replacement of obsolete warships, in context of the dualistic system and domestic affairs of the Hapsburg Monarchy alongside with the reasons making Montecuccoli not to support his own draft.
As well, the overall situation of Austro-Hungarian navy giving the impulse to opening the question of the fleet act is briefly introduced and some differences between the Austro-Hungarian draft and the German fleet act serving as the pattern are underlined. At the end of the study, it is confirmed that most likely, such an act was not the best way to create a strong fleet in Austria-Hungary.
