Abstract
The ERC 2015 Guidelines highlight that "making a decision to discontinue resuscitation efforts of a victim of drowning is notoriously difficult. No single factor can accurately predict good or poor survival with certainty".1 The guidelines distinguish between the treatments of victims with primary hypothermia (e.g. falling into an ice hole, fast moving water, immersion in a life-vest) who should follow hypothermia algorithm,1 while common rules for asystole should apply in the absence of reversible causes of cardiac arrest.
