Adam provided careers for his sons, they held the positions both in Prague (in Bohemian land offices) and in Vienna (at the Habsburg court). Similar to Adam, his son Maximilian and his grandson Karl Ferdinand used the same strategy.

By this way the Waldsteins belonged to the most important families in the Habsburg monarchy until the beginning of the 18th century and they influenced not only the court life but also the politics.
