DIYLab as a challenge for educators to learn about the teachings their pupils

Publication

Abstract

Since January 2014, the Faculty of Education of Charles University has been involved in the three-year EU project DIYLab, in which it tried to teach philosophy and DIY (Do It Yourself) in the teaching of future teachers. The DIY activities that future PedF teachers attempted during the project were an effort to support researcher-oriented learning, teamwork, autonomous student learning, to contribute to the development of their digital literacy, and to develop inter-subject and interdisciplinary relationships.

Future teachers thus had the opportunity to learn about the teaching approach they could apply in their teaching practice. Including DIY activities into school education is an opportunity to pay deeper attention to the pupils' own learning process, to support their autonomous learning and to use their knowledge and skills acquired in out-of-school activities, in informal education.
