This text offers a brief view on changes in news coverage of unexpected events. The accent is given on the changes in the work of a journalist.
I have analysed twelve aircraft and railway accidents that happened mainly in Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. The results of the historical comparative analysis show that the methods of journalistic work and also its outputs changed very noticeably.
The best quality and quantity of the news coverage can be detected between 1965-1968.
