Abstract
The name of Celestin Rypl (1894-1945) is completely unknown these days. Nevertheless, Rypl - native of Pilsner, a lawyer by education, pianist and composer, was quite honored and famous during the first Czechoslovak republic.
However, in the time of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia his social role was rather negative and his name fall into oblivion. The study provide so far the most detailed and deep insight in Rypl's life and work.
